In the semi-final between Pakistan and New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam both hit half-centuries as Pakistan won by seven wickets and advanced to the 20-20 World Cup final on Wednesday, moving within one win of a second title. The Men in Green set the tone at the Sydney Cricket Ground with razor-sharp fielding and disciplined bowling, limiting New Zealand to 152-4.
Only Daryll Mitchell could hurt the Pakistani bowlers for New Zealand, while Kane Williamson held the innings together. The Blackcaps showed no intent in the game and Pakistan was a step ahead of them at all times.
Pakistan will now face either England or India in the final on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. If India wins that game, they will face archrival Pakistan in the World Cup final for the first time since 2007.
Many experts and fans for another India-Pakistan clash in the mega event at the MCG. The last time these two faced each other, the team led by Rohit Sharma emerged victorious in a nail-biting thriller. Former team captain Virat Kohli played the best knock of his life to get India over the line. He scored 82 runs in 53 balls in the encounter.
