Wasim Akram makes controversial statement about Pakistan Cricket
Wasim Akram is arguably one of the greatest bowlers of all time
Cricketer-turned-broadcaster Wasim Akram has expressed his desire to join Pakistan in some power. However, he is not sure as to why the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not taken his services yet. Notably, Akram has been a coach in Pakistan’s fast bowling camps in the past.
When asked why he was not considered for a coaching post by the PCB, Akram stated he wasn’t sure and that the board should be asked about it. “You should go and ask PCB, why my services are not taken. Anyways, I help them whenever needed. Having played cricket for a long time and being a Pakistani, I am ready to serve my country anytime,” Akram told the media as reported by Geo Super.
Previously, Akram served as director and bowling coach for PSL side Islamabad United in 2016 and 2017. He has also served as a director and bowling coach with the Multan Sultans. Akram presently serves as the chairman and bowling coach of the Karachi Kings. He is also the Vice President of the Kashmir Premier League.
In another question, Akram was asked about the reasons behind Pakistan’s decline in cricket. In response, the legendary cricketer advised journalists to first watch cricket since he feels the national team is performing well.
“Are you living on the moon? Pakistan team is doing good, which downfall you are talking about? They have just chased 300+ against West Indies, won their last series against Australia,” he said.
In the meantime, the Pakistan team has been doing exceptionally well recently. In their most recent encounter against the West Indies, a brilliant all-round performance by the team helped them take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Babar Azam scored a brilliant century in the match to take his team through. He scored 103 runs in the chase of 306 runs. Haris Rauf, Imam ul Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and Khushdil Shah also played admirably in the match to get the win.
