After having faced a disappointing loss in their 20-20 World Cup opener Australia took to the field again for rectifying their mistakes. Playing against Sri Lanka, the Australia team started off well but lacked a little bit of edge needed for a game of this calibre.

One player however who plays every game with the same intensity was David Warner. From the get-go, the former Australian captain flew all around the ground saving important runs for the team.

On the fourth ball of the 10th over Warner showcased a fielding masterclass that could be termed as one of the very best in recent times. While running backwards, he caught a ball and threw it in as he was falling out of the boundary line. That fielding effort is being lauded as exceptional and is getting massive praise from netizens.

This was however just a preface to what was about to come in the next over. In the 11th over Warner ran back a took a sensational diving catch of Dhananjaya de Silva at the boundary line to put Sri Lanka in a difficult situation.

None of Sri Lanka’s lower-order batters could perform against Australia and as a result of it, the Asia Cup 2022 winners could only get to 157/6 in 20 overs. Opener Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for the Asian team as he made 40 off of 45. Charith Asalanka remained unbeaten on 38 and was the second top scorer for the team.

David Warner’s fielding heroics proved to be the differential between the two teams as they were on par in all the other departments. Sri Lankan fielders could not take their chances while Australia on the back of David Warner’s efforts took theirs’. Australia in the end came up with 7 wicket win at the 20-20 World Cup.
