Indian cricket board sacks selection committee after 20-20 World Cup disaster

With India crashing out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in the knockouts against England, many former cricketers have been voicing out their opinion on poor team selection and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Amid all the criticism, the Indian cricket board sacked the entire selection committee led by Chetan Sharma on November 18, Thursday, causing a huge shockwave across the country. Further, the board went on to invite applicants for the committee and the board is all set to fill in 5 vacancies for the same.

Taking it to social media to announce the same, the Indian cricket board laid out a few requirements to apply for the position. The secretary of the board, Jay Shah, announced that the applicants must have either played 7 Test matches, or 30 First Class matches, or 10 ODIs and 20 First Class matches.

While the last date for submitting the applications will be November 28, the fans, on the other hand, took to their social media accounts to express their opinions on the same and a few claimed that the new committee might not bring any changes to the international arena.

India to get different captains for different formats?

As things stand, there are reports claiming that the Indian cricket team might get different captains for different formats and Hardik Pandya, the Indian allrounder, is highly likely to be appointed as the permanent captain for the shortest format of the game, it claimed further.

The outgoing committee was heavily criticised for not coming up with the right players and also for handling the Virat Kohli captaincy row poorly. For the unversed, the Indian superstar was removed from captaincy and Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener, was handed over the responsibility to lead the team in all three formats. However, there is no clarity on the row, as the Delhi-born claimed that he was told about his removal from ODI captaincy only an hour before the decision was made.

As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to the Indian cricket board sacking the selection committee:
