‘Virat Kohli practicing for Zero part 2’ :Fans disappointed as Kohli bags the third golden duck of the season
Former Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has bagged the third golden duck of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. The first it happened was against Lucknow when he was caught at a backward point by Deepak Hooda off Dushmantha Chameera. The second time it happened in the very next game against Hyderabad. In that game, the right-hander was caught at slips by Aiden Markram off Marco Jansen.
After these back-to-back ducks, Kohli scored a half-century and a 30-odd in the next two games against Gujarat and Chennai respectively. It looked like the 33-year-old is coming back to form and the fans were expecting big innings from him. However, in the ongoing return fixture against the Orange Army, he got out on a golden duck. He was caught at short midwicket by opposition skipper Kane Williamson off Jagadeesha Suchith.
Notably, this is the first time he has got two golden ducks against the same team in his Indian T20 League career. The ongoing season has been a forgettable one for the former India skipper. In the 12 games, he has played. he has been able to manage only 216 runs averaging 21.60. Talking about the team, they have won six games and lost five games in the tournament.
They need to win at least two games out of the remaining three including the ongoing one. Talking about the game against the 2016 winners, the likes of skipper Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar have helped the team to recover from the early jolt. They stitched a partnership of 105 runs in 12.1 overs before Patidar was caught at deep midwicket by Rahul Tripathi off Suchith. The right-hander carried his form as he scored 48 off 38 balls including four fours and two sixes.
On the other hand, skipper du Plessis is batting on 55 off 38 balls including six fours and two sixes, at the time of writing the article. Glenn Maxwell has come out to bat and is batting on 11 off nine balls with a four and a six.
This is how Twitter expressed its disappointment
#Kohli is killing himself here. Needs to take a break. A long one. Decide if this is still what he wants. Right now, he is a busted flush. #RCBvSRH
