Veteran Karnataka cricketer passes away due to heart attack after game

The player was a regular starter for his side in the Karnataka Premier League.

It has lately come to light that, during a match in the current Aegis South Zone competition, former Karnataka all-rounder K Hoysala (34) tragically passed away from a heart attack. The incident happened at the RSI cricket venue in Bengaluru during Karnataka’s league match versus Tamil Nadu. As the squad celebrated Karnataka’s win, Hoysala passed out on the pitch from excruciating chest agony.

He was having dinner with his teammates after the game. He abruptly passed out on the pitch, and the Karnataka pacer needed CPR before the medical staff could get to him. The all-rounder was responding throughout therapy, but he passed away while being transported to the hospital. When he was being transported to the hospital, his family was notified about the occurrence.

Sadly, he passed away after a heart attack while being transported by EMS to Bengaluru’s Bowring Hospital. Details of this terrible incident became public on February 23, the evening of February 22. It happened on Thursday, February 22.

Hoysala, the under-25 representative for Karnataka, was a middle-order hitter and bowler. He participated in Karnataka Premier League play as well.

The cricket player was brought in dead, as stated by Dr. Manoj Kumar, dean of Atal Bihari Medical College and Bowring Hospital. The result from the autopsy is still pending. He said, “Hoysala was brought in dead, mostly due to a heart attack. We have completed the postmortem and are awaiting the report.”

Other unfortunate players who died on the cricket pitch

But this does not mark the first time a cricket player has died from heart arrest while playing the game. Notably, Suhaib Yaseen, a 20-year-old cricket player, passed away on January 26 of this year shortly after he began his run-up to bowl.

Prior to it, Mavericks 11 batsman Vikas Negi, 34, also passed out on the pitch while batting. After a handshake alongside his non-striker teammate Umesh Kumar, he was heading back towards the striker’s end when he fell in the middle, dying as a result.
