Wriddhima Saha and Shubman Gill

Table toppers Gujarat Titans are hosting Lucknow Super Giants in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League 2023. At the Narendra Modi Stadium, batters have had a brilliant time throughout the season. This match was no different.

After winning the toss, LSG captain Krunal Pandya chose to bowl first. In the day game, Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, was content to bat first. The GT openers set the stage on fire as they looked in excellent touch right from the word go.

Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha continued their batting prowess from the previous match and added a massive 142-run partnership for the first wicket. At first, Saha was playing the aggressor in the innings, while Gill took some time to settle in. The latter, however, found his groove in no time and joined his partner in taking on the bowlers.

In the partnership, each got to their half-centuries, but Saha fell short of his well-deserved hundred. Avesh Khan eventually dismissed the wicketkeeper-batter after he had scored 81 runs in just 43 balls. The two added 142 runs in the opening partnership.

Saha took a step forward and hit the back of the length delivery into the air. It was going wide of the deep square leg, but Prerak Mankad, the sub, kept his eyes on it and hung on. He did well to keep his balance and body inside the boundary cushions after completing the catch.

Shubman Gill continues his onslaught

Following that, Gill, who has been really impressive recently, continued his onslaught. The star batter was given complete support from captain Pandya and David Miller, and he was taking one every bowler that came his way. He went on to play some even bigger shots and increased his strike rate in the process.

He, too, missed out on a well-deserved hundred because he was stranded in the non-striking end. As Gujarat Titans posted a score of 227/2 on the board, he struck 94 runs in just 51 balls, including two boundaries and seven sixes.
