Pakistan failed to win a single medal in Boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Amidst the poor performance, a shocking piece of news has emerged for the country following the grand event in Birmingham. Two Pakistani boxers have reportedly disappeared after their poor show at the quadrennial event. Boxers, namely Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah are nowhere to be traced.

Nasir Tang, the secretary of the Boxing federation of Pakistan, confirmed the news that the duo disappeared two hours before they were scheduled to depart for Islamabad. “The travel documents including their passports are still with federation officials who accompanied the boxing team to the games,” Tang was quoted as saying.

He added that the High Commission in the United Kingdom has been informed of the same. Tang further informed that they kept the passports of Pakistani players as a standard operating procedure. The Olympic Association of Pakistan has reportedly formed a four-member committee to investigate the issue.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time a Pakistani athlete has disappeared. Earlier, in the month of June, a swimmer from Pakistan named Faizan Akbar had also disappeared. The swimmer disappeared while heading to Hungary to participate in the FINA World Championships.

To add to the suspense, he did not participate in the event at all. He has not been traced since June. The disappearance of two Pakistani boxers now has sparked speculations. And no one has a clear idea of what they are up to or where they are headed to.

The Pakistan contingent managed to win eight medals for their country at the Commonwealth Games 2022, including two Golds. The Gold medals came from Weightlifting and Javelin Throw. The contingent also managed to win three silver medals and three bronze medals.

Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistan Javelin thrower won gold for the country with a 90m throw, breaking Neeraj Chopra’s record. Chopra took to Instagram to appreciate the former for the same. On the other hand, Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt also won Gold for Pakistan in the weightlifting category.
