Twitter Reactions: No halt to Mumbai’s losing streak as Lucknow claim another impressive win
This was the second time both teams met in the ongoing season
Lucknow and Mumbai locked horns in the 37th game of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This was the second time both teams played each other in the ongoing season. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their bowlers had a decent start as they conceded 27 runs in the first four overs.
On the last ball of the fourth over, Quinton de Kock (10) was caught at short covers by Rohit Sharma off Jasprit Bumrah. Manish Pandey (22) came and stitched a partnership of 58 runs with KL Rahul before the former was caught at short fine-leg by Riley Meredith off Kieron Pollard. In the next over, Marcus Stoinis (0), who was promoted up the order, was caught at deep midwicket by Tilak Varma off Daniel Sams.
Krunal Pandya (1) could not create any impact against his old team as he was also caught at deep midwicket by Hritik Shokeen off Pollard. The innings kept revolving around Rahul as he kept holding the fort at one end. He scored another unbeaten 103 just like he did against the same opposition when the two sides met earlier in the tournament. The Men In Mint Green scored a fighting total of 168/6, with no other batter even crossing the 30-run mark.
In reply, the five-time winners had a slow start as Ishan Kishan struggled to put bat on ball. However, skipper Rohit Sharma kept the scoreboard ticking. Mumbai had a fruitful powerplay at 43-0. However, Kishan (eight off 20) was caught at slips by Jason Holder off Ravi Bishnoi. In the next over, Dewald Brevis (3) was caught at third man off Mohsin Khan, leaving Mumbai in trouble at 54-2 in 9th over.
The team got a crushing blow in the 10th over as Sharma (39) was caught by K. Gowtham off Pandya. In form, Suryakumar Yadav (7) could not do much as he was caught by Rahul off Ayush Badoni, with the score reading 67/4 in 11.2 overs. At this stage, Tilak Varma (38) and Pollard stitched a partnership of 57 runs before the latter was caught by Bishnoi off Holder on a full toss. At this stage, the team needed 45 off 13 balls. The partnership didn’t helped the team as Pollard kept struggling at the crease and the required run-rate creeped up to 22 per over.
The team went on to lose the game by 37 runs and became the first team to be officially crashed out of the tournament.

I’ve never supported @mipaltan in a game because of my love for @ChennaiIPL but you gotta feel for them right now.

Maybe time for @mipaltan to ‘play the kids’ for the rest of the #IPL. Give their young, local players a chance. Nothing to lose, and things couldn’t get any worse. #IPL2022 #MIvLSG #LSGvMI #MumbaiIndians 🇮🇳ðŸ

Lucknow brilliant in defending 168. Promising start by #Rohit, but innings imploded under pressure from LSG bowling, that said most Batsmen dismissed playing poor shots. 8 defeats and not a single win so far this season for #MumbaiIndians. Staggering!

Rohit Sharma when asked about Tim David's chances of making it to the XI again:
"We have discussed that but we have to ensure that whoever plays, we give them enough games. At the end of the day, we want a settled team."
Then why was he dropped after just 2 matches? 🤔#LSGvMI
