After 19 days of highly entertaining cricket, the Legends League Cricket finally reached its culmination on Wednesday when India Capitals clashed with Bhilwara Kings in the final.

Having won the toss, the Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings decided to bowl first and invited India Capitals to set up a target. Captain Gautam Gambhir (8) and Dwayne Smith (3) walked in from the IC side to play their trade in the season one last time. Both however failed to take their team towards a good score. Next batter Hamilton Masakadza also failed to impress having made just one off four in the final. Dinesh Ramdin did even poorer and got out for a duck in just two deliveries.

At 21/4, the India Capitals’ hopes for a final win were dying quickly which is when Ross Taylor walked in and changed the game completely. The former New Zealand batter, played a sensational knock of 82 in just 41 deliveries to bring the team out of limbo. Additionally, Mitchell Johnson turned out to be an unexpected hero with the bat as he also clinched a half-century (62 off 35) to put a strong footing in the final. Ashley Nurse remained unbeaten at 42 off 19 as he took India Capitals to a mighty 211/7.

Rahul Sharma proved to be the best bowler from the BK side as he took four wickets in four overs. Monty Panesar also supported with his two.

Coming onto chase the target, the Bhilwara Kings stumbled from the get-go as they lost their first wicket at just eight runs. Shane Watson tried to steady the innings but could not do much as he got out at just 27 runs. The story remained the same for the entirety of Bhilwara Kings batting lineup as Johnson and co ripped through it. In the end, Bhilwara Kings could only manage 107/10 in 18.2 overs and lost the match by a massive 104 runs.

Ross Taylor was adjudged the Player of the Match whereas Yusuf Pathan was chosen as the Player of the series.
