Rohit has been a devastating opener for India in the 20-20 World Cups, and he holds the record for the second-most half-centuries scored, with eight fifties.

His most productive World Cup came in 2014 when he smashed 200 runs at an average of 40 to help India reach the final, where they were defeated by Sri Lanka. He will be under a lot of pressure heading into the 2022 World Cup, as he will captain the team for the first time in a World Cup.

Star Sri Lankan batter, Tillakaratne Dilshan, is third on the list of the highest run scorers in the 20-20 World Cup. He appeared in 35 World Cup matches, scoring 897 runs at an average of 30.93 and a strike rate of 124.06.

Dilshan has been a great saviour for Sri Lanka cricket, leading them to the final of the 2009 World Cup, where they were defeated by Pakistan. However, Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 2014, allowing Dilshan to finish his career on a high note.

The only player in the history of the 20-20 World Cup to have scored two centuries is Chris Gayle. He ranks second on this list, having scored 965 runs in 33 matches at an average of 34.46. Among the top five run scorers, the left-hander has the highest strike rate of 142.75. Only South Africa’s AB De Villiers has a higher strike rate (143.4) in 20-20 World Cup history.

The legend of Sri Lanka cricket Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for scoring the most runs in 20-20 World Cup history. He is one of the best all-format players the game has seen in modern times. From 2007 to 2014, he scored 1016 runs in 31 matches in five editions of the 20-20 World Cup.

Jayawardene has a 39.07 average and a strike rate of 134.74. He is the only player in 20-20 World Cup history to have scored 1000 runs, and he also has a century and six half-centuries to his name. He retired from T20 cricket after Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 2014.
