Test cricket has been rapidly evolving in recent years. With the term “Bazball” circulating these days, teams are trying to figure out what they need to do to survive in the game’s longest format. Counter-attacking or the aggressive approach to Test Cricket has become the way forward. With this in mind, let’s have a look at the batters with the most number of sixes in the history of Test cricket.

Considered to be one of the greatest all-rounders of all time, Jacques Kallis had a very attacking style of cricket. Playing for South Africa between 1995 and 2013, Kallis hit as many as 98 sixes in the longest format of the game.

The 166-match Test veteran was one of the greatest players from South Africa to represent the sport. In 280 innings, he batted in, he scored nearly 13300 runs at an average of more than 55 and a strike rate of nearly 46.

Stand and deliver- This was always the philosophy of Chris Gayle when he walked into the middle to bat. The star batter from West Indies, with his brilliant power-hitting abilities, dominated each format of the game.

Gayle hit as many as 98 sixes in his 14-year Test career. He also had the distinction of hitting a six on the first ball of a Test match. Gayle scored over 7200 runs at a strike rate of 60 in 103 matches for the West Indies.

#3 Adam Gilchrist- 100 sixes

Australian legend Adam Gilchrist is third on the list with 100 sixes. The Kangaroos’ star batter appeared in 96 games during the game’s longest format, scoring nearly 5600 runs. The star batter was widely regarded as one of Australia’s greatest wicketkeeper-batters.

Gilchrist, who batted lower in the order, had some excellent performances and the highest score of 204. Just like others on the list, he had a very attacking mindset, but he has the highest strike rate of all, close to 82.

#2 Brendon McCullum- 107 sixes

The former New Zealand Cricketer Brendon McCullum had a very illustrious career. Throughout his career, he was one of the players who changed the game’s approach by playing an attacking game. In the 101 matches he played, the star cricketer hit 107 sixes.

The man behind the term “Bazball” is the new England Team’s head coach. His approach to attacking cricket has dominated the world and helped England establish itself as the world’s top Test team.

#1 Ben Stokes- 107 sixes

Ben Stokes, the current England Test Captain, ranks first on the list with 107 sixes. The star all-rounder has the same number of sixes as Brendon McCullum but has played fewer innings (162) than McCullum (176), keeping him at the top.

Stokes, under the guidance of McCullum, is equally responsible for England Team’s success in Test Cricket in recent times. The newly appointed captain of the Three Lions is yet to lose a match as the team’s captain.
