1. Joe Root

Former England skipper Joe Root is set to make his debut against DC. In the game against PBKS, Jos Buttler injured his finger and came out to bat at number three, going against his usual opening slot. Recent reports suggest that Buttler got a few stitches and might sit out. In that case, the 2019 World Cup winner might come to open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

2. Rilee Rossouw

The left-hander has only scored 30 runs in two games so far. In the last game against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans, he bagged a golden duck. Against Lucknow Super Giants, he scored 30 off 20 balls but couldn’t go on further. However, the fans might be aware of his capabilities and might do well against the former champions.

3. Sanju Samson

The Royals skipper Samson has done well in the first two games. He scored 50 and 40-odd in the first two games against SRH and PBKS respectively. The right-hander would look to carry on his form in the upcoming game against DC. Not to forget, he is fighting to warrant his place in the Indian team.

4. Yuzvendra Chahal

The leg-spinner had a great start in the tournament with a four-wicket haul against the 2016 winners, SRH. However, he had a contrasting fortune against PBKS as he was bludgeoned for 50 runs. Meanwhile, there is no doubt about his ability to pick wickets in this tournament. Not to forget, he was the Purple Cap winner last year.

5. Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm wrist spinner hasn’t been able to replicate his international form for DC in the ongoing IPL 2023. However, just like Chahal, Yadav also has the ability to win games with the ball.
