Top 3 worst bowling figures for Team India in T20Is
Having a detailed look at the three worst performances by a Team India bowler in T20Is.
The Indian team is always full of superstar players in their playing XI. The side looks to give many opportunities to youngsters against some of the biggest names of international cricket. The Indian Premier League experience helps the players a lot as they can play fearless cricket for the nation.
However, sometimes there are some performances that just some players would look to forget. T20Is are considered to be batting friendly conditions and that often has a toll on the figures of the bowlers. Let’s take a look at the top three worst performances by Indian bowlers in T20Is.
Top 3 worst bowling figures for Team India in T20Is
3) Arshdeep Singh vs SA (2/62, 2022)
The year 2022 belonged to Arshdeep Singh for his amazing performances for Team India in T20Is. But this is one of the performances he would look to forget as soon as possible. Known for his amazing speed and swing, but it went downhill for him in his final three overs. His spell started off well as he was able to scalp the wicket of skipper Temba Bavuma and Rilee Rossouw.
However, he conceded 57 runs in his final three overs which also helped the opposition strike a comeback in the game. Although, South Africa could not get the win as India won the game by 16 runs. But Arshdeep Singh registered an unwanted record of being the only pacer at that time to concede more than 60 runs in a T20I.
2) Yuzvendra Chahal vs SA (0/64, 2018)
Indian bowler Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the best leg-spinners in the white-ball format. He is still currently the player with the most wickets for Team India in T20Is. But he often used to have performances where he leaked runs and that could have been very costly for the team. The second T20I between India and South Africa saw Yuzvendra Chahal get hammered all along the ground.
The dangerous Henrich Klassen took on the spinner and smashed him for 23 runs in his second over. India went on to lose the match and one might argue that his spell cost India the game. At that time, he became the first ever bowler for Team India to concede more than 60 runs in a T20I.
1) Prasidh Krishna vs AUS (0/68, 2023)
This spell of Prasidh Krishna was one of the worst bowling performances in India’s T20I history. India was defending an enormous total of 222 runs and that had the opposition going for the chase from the first over. The first two overs of Prasidh’s spell saw him concede 39 runs as he was smacked around all parts of the ground.
During his second spell, his third over saw him concede only five runs which sparked Indian team hopes of a victory. However, Glenn Maxwell smacked him in the last over as the pacer looked to defend 21 runs off the last over. Prasidh now has the unwanted record for being the bowler with the worst bowling figures for Team India in T20Is.
