Three reasons why Trent Boult can be game changer for Rajasthan in IPL 2023
The pacer picked up 16 wickets with the franchise in Indian T20 League 2022.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is just months away and the excitement is already building up, given that it will be the second edition with 10 teams taking on against each other. Fiery pacers from the likes of Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Curran will look to take on stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Mayank Agarwal.
For the unversed, it was the Gujarat franchise, that tasted victory in their first-ever appearance in 2022 and made history under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. We decided to handpick three reasons why Boult could come as a game-changer for the Rajasthan franchise in the upcoming edition.
Here are the three reasons why Trent Boult could come as a game-changer for his team:
3) Left-arm pacer
In any team, having a left-arm pacer would be considered an advantage and Boult being a left-armer, could make a significant impact with the ball. To add more, given that the majority of the batters are right-handed, Boult could come as a game-changer for the Rajasthan franchise.
For the unversed, the bowler picked up 16 wickets in 16 matches that he played last year with the franchise and one has to agree that he could replicate the same in the approaching season as well, given that the pacer is known for his ability to rattle the top-order.
2) Available for whole season
For the unversed, earlier in 2022, Trent Boult volunteered out of New Zealand’s central contracts and it gives him the much-needed space to be a part of the whole season. With an economy under 8, any team would love to have the left-armer for a period of two months and it could come as a game-changer for the Rajasthan franchise.
One has to agree that the Rajasthan camp managed to reach the summit clash of the Indian T20 League (ITL) 2022, although they lost to Gujarat and given that the New Zealander will be available for the whole season, he could change things up by leading the pace attack in ITL 2023.
1) Trent Boult comes in red-hot form and could swing early-on
One of the skills that Trent Boult possesses is the ability to swing the ball early on in the innings and one has to agree that the left-arm pacer is coming into the league in red-hot form. To add more, the pacer racked up 37 wickets in 35 T20 matches at an economy of under 8 in 2022.
Boult is known to bowl in-swingers early on in the game and the right-handed batters could have trouble facing him in the powerplay. This could come as the major reason why the Kiwi pacer could be the game-changer for the Rajasthan team in the approaching season.
