Three Players Who Can Replace Washington Sundar In Hyderabad Team
Sundar has sustained the injury during the Hyderabad vs Gujarat game on April 11
Hyderabad all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League for at least one week. He sustained an injury between his thumb and first finger. It happened during the game between Hyderabad and Gujarat on April 11. Due to this injury, he didn’t bowl his fourth over of the game. In his three overs, the Tamil Nadu player gave away only 14 runs.
This isn’t the first time the right-arm off-spinner has sustained a finger injury. In July last year, Sundar suffered the same while batting in a first-class game facing Mohammed Siraj. Due to this, the former India U19 player missed out on the five-match Test series against England and only came back during the ODI series against the West Indies at home in February this year. Meanwhile, here we will be taking a look at three names who can replace him.
Three players who can replace Washington Sundar
1. Jagadeesha Suchith
The Karnataka player made his debut in the cash-rich league for Mumbai in 2015. The left-arm spinner played a significant role in the team’s title-winning campaign that year. With the ball, Suchith took 10 wickets in 13 games at an average of 33.70 and an economy rate of 8.64 during that season. He is also a handy batter down the order. Notably, he is part of the Orange Army and hasn’t got a game in the season so far. The 28-year-old is a gun fielder and can be a good replacement for Sundar.
2. Saurabh Dubey
Although the Uttar Pradesh player hasn’t played much, he has loads of talent. Talking about his numbers, the right-hander has played only three T20s, in which he has scored 45 runs. However, his strike rate is 236.84 and that’s what Hyderabad would require in the absence of Sundar. Talking about his bowling, he hasn’t picked a wicket but bowls with an economy of 8, which is decent in the shortest format of the game.
3. Shreyas GopalÂ
The Karnataka player is a fairly experienced campaigner in the Indian T20 league. From 2014 to 2021, he played for Mumbai and then for Rajasthan. This year, the leg-spinner is part of Hyderabad and is yet to get a game. In the 48 games played so far, he has picked as many wickets at an average of 26 and an economy of 8.04. The 28-year-old is a decent batter down the order.
