With the 20-20 World Cup 2022 right around the corner, Australia and West Indies are looking to fine-tune their preparations for the tournament. Both teams will play a two-match T20I series starting on October 5 and will conclude on the 7th. The teams would be looking to finalize their combinations ahead of the showpiece event. This is the last series for the Maroon Brigade before the World Cup.

On the other hand, the Aussies will play another series after this. Meanwhile, the two games are going to be really exciting ones. The West Indies have been really strong in the T20I format over the years. On the other hand, the Kangaroos are the defending champions of the World Cup, having won the title last year. In this listicle, we will have a look at three player battles to watch out for.

1. Aaron Finch vs Sheldon Cottrell

It is not a secret that the Australia T20I skipper has a weakness against in-swinging deliveries. Over the years, the bowlers have exploited his weakness. Not to forget, in the series against Zimbabwe, he was getting troubled in the same area.

Sheldon Cottrell has the ability to bring the ball back into the right-handers from over the wicket. If the left arm manages to swing the ball, Finch might be in deep trouble.

2. Glenn Maxwell vs Obed McCoy

Maxwell is known to be an explosive batter who can change the game anytime. If he clicks, it is difficult for the opposition to come back into the game. However, he has a few weaknesses.

One of them is the slower deliveries from pacers. The way Maxwell sets himself up for hitting makes it difficult for him to adjust to the change of pace. This is where someone like Obed McCoy comes into play. The left-arm pacer is one of the biggest exponents of the slower balls.

3. Adam Zampa vs Nicholas Pooran

The West Indies skipper is one of the explosive batters in the shortest format of the game. He can increase the run rate in the middle at any time. On the other hand, he is more of a leg-side dominant player.

Pooran has been found wanting over the years in terms of boundary hitting on the off-side. In the 2021 Indian T20 League, he has been caught at the boundary line more often than not. Adam Zampa, who is the googly bowler, can exploit this weakness.
