With the schedule for 2022 done and dusted with, the Indian Cricket Team will look for some better results in the new year. All teams will be preparing for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in October-November in India. There could be some big news coming in Indian cricket in some time. Some players may call it quits in international cricket this year. In this article, we discuss three Indian players who may retire from international cricket in 2023.

#1 Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik will be the first Indian player to be eligible to retire from international cricket in 2023. Karthik was named to the T20I team after a stellar performance in the Indian T20 League 2022. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, he also contributed some outstanding performances to the team.

Karthik, on the other hand, flopped during the 20-20 World Cup 2022, getting out for single digits in the few games he played. During the tournament, India also suffered a crushing defeat in the semi-finals and failed to advance to the final. Karthik was not selected for the recent T20I series against New Zealand. Karthik does not appear to be able to return to the national team due to his increasing age.

#2 Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane was a regular in the Test team and served as vice-captain a few months ago. However, when Rohit Sharma took over as Test captain from Virat Kohli, Rahane was replaced as vice-captain by KL Rahul. Furthermore, he was dropped from the Test team due to his poor batting performance last year.

He has yet to make a comeback in a Test match. His international career has come to an end, and due to the high level of competition, he will find it difficult to return to the national team. As a result, Rahane may decide to retire from international cricket in 2023.

#3 Jayant Yadav

Jayant Yadav is another Indian player who is expected to retire from international cricket in 2023. While Yadav has only played six Tests and two One-Day Internationals so far, he did get a few chances this year during the Test series against Sri Lanka in March.

The right-arm off-spinner struggled during the series and was eventually dropped from the Test squad. He has not played a Test since March of this year, and his return to the national team appears to be impossible. As a result, Yadav may decide to leave international cricket in 2023.
