Powerplays in white-ball cricket are very important. While the batters look for a firey start in the first 10 overs (in ODIs) to take advantage of the field, bowlers look to bowl attacking lines to try and get early wickets. However, getting early wickets in ODI cricket is not always easy. Bowlers must be very precise with their strategies in order to get rid of batters early on.

We will look at the top bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Powerplays in ODIs since 2022:

3. Matt Henry- 10 wickets

Matt Henry has become a regular member of the New Zealand team in recent times. He has been excellent with the ball in the longer format of limited-overs cricket. He has had decent success in dismissing batters early on in the powerplay. Henry has had 10 wickets in powerplays to his name since 2022.

Since his debut in 2014, the 31-year-old has played 65 ODIs and taken 116 wickets at a staggering average of just over 25. With the ODI World Cup 2023 nearing, he will look to keep this form intact and get good results for the Kiwis.

2. Trent Boult- 10 wickets

Trent Boult is another New Zealander on this list with 10 powerplay wickets since 2022. The veteran cricketer has been a part of the international setup for a long time and has had a lot of success. The year 2022 was no different for him.

Boult has also taken 10 wickets in New Zealand’s powerplays in ODIs since 2022. However, since being released from the central contract, he has not appeared in many games for the team. The 33-year-old could have had a lot more wickets had he played a few more games.

1. Mohammed Siraj- 24 wickets

Mohammed Siraj has been at his best in the last year or so. He has dominated the game at all stages, but he excels at the top of the powerplays. As soon as he takes the new ball, he puts batters under immediate pressure.

Nobody has come close to matching his dominance in the ODI format. In the powerplays since 2022, Siraj has taken 24 wickets. The 28-year-old would now like to cement his place in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India.
