International Mother’s day will be celebrated on May 8. Notably, there is no specific day for Mother’s day as it is celebrated on the first Sunday of the May month every year. The evening ahead of the global celebration of Motherhood, Lucknow will be wearing the kits on which their mother’s names are etched. They will face Kolkata at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Mumbai.

For the unversed, this isn’t the first time a team hasn’t the jersey which had their mother’s name. In 2016, Indian Cricket team wore the same kind of jersey in an ODI against New Zealand in Vizag. Notably, the game was played in late 2016. Since then, the gesture hasn’t been repeated in the game. However, the Indian T20 League debutants will be proudly donning their mother’s names on their uniforms.

Few hours ahead of the their game against Kolkata, the franchise took to Twitter and uploaded a video to inform their fans about the development. The video was captioned ‘“This one’s for you, Maa.” Now THAT’s how you prepare for Mother’s Day – the #SuperGiant way!’

Talking about the game, the Men In Mint Green will play Kolkata for the first time in this season. The KL Rahul-led side has had a great start to their campaign as they have won seven out of 10 games. One more win can potentially take them to the playoffs. On the other hand, the Shreyas Iyer-led side is coming off beating Rajasthan in their last game. With that win, they have broken their five-match losing streak.

However, they don’t have the luxury to be casual as they need to win all of their remaining four games to keep their playoff hopes alive. It will be interesting to see whether the Men In Purple and Gold can keep their hopes alive. On the other hand, Lucknow would be looking to put their one foot into the top four finish.
