‘Serious Stuff – Twitter goes berserk as Hyderabad continue juggernaut with thrilling win over Punjab
Both teams had won their previous respective games
Punjab and Hyderabad locked horns in the 28th game of the Indian T20 League 2022, at the D.Y Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The latter won the toss and elected to bowl first. They had a great start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan (8) in the third over of the innings. The scorecard read 10/1 in 2.4 overs at that time. Two overs later, Prabhsimran Singh (14) was caught behind by Nicholas Pooran off T. Natarajan’s bowling.
In the seventh over of the innings, Jonny Bairstow (12) was dismissed by left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith. In just the next over, Jitesh Sharma was caught and bowled by Umran Malik. Punjab were then struggling at 61/4 in eight overs. At this stage, Shahrukh Khan and Liam Livingstone stitched a partnership of 71 runs before the former was caught by Williamson off Kumar. Livingstone scored 60 off 33 before becoming the third victim of Kumar.
Umran Malik came to bowl the last over and took three wickets. Moreover, the last batter Arshdeep Singh was run out in the final ball of the second innings as well. Notably, the over was a maiden. For the 2016 winners, Kumar took three wickets, Malik took four, and T. Natarajan, J.Suchith took one each. In reply, the Orange Army started slowly and subsequently, lost the wicket of their skipper Kane Williamson (3) to Kagiso Rabada.
Rahul Tripathi, who was coming off a brilliant half-century against Kolkata in the previous game, scored 34 off 22 before being caught by Shahrukh Khan. Two overs later, Chahar took another wicket in the form of Abhishek Sharma, as the latter was caught by Khan. At 77/3, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram stitched an unbeaten partnership of 75 runs. Pooran scored 35 off 30, while Markram got 41 off 27.
Both batters won the game for their team in 18.4 overs. With this win, Hyderabad have won four games in a row and have jumped to the fourth spot in the points table. On the other hand, Punjab have slipped to the seventh place.

1st time in IPL history 5 wickets have fallen for no run. Umran the force behind this collapse. What a spell by Bhuvi, Take the Livi and Dhawan wicket. Tripathi played another firy knock, Markram & Pooran unbeaten 75-run stand helped give #SRH winning touch. 🧡🤗#PBKSvsSRH pic.twitter.com/e4NjU12cfo

Aiden Markram in the last 3 games:
12* (8) Vs GT.
68* (36) Vs KKR.
41* (27) Vs PBKS.– He's doing a mighty fine job for SRH and has finished last 3 games for SRH batting 2nd. pic.twitter.com/pQlFwSvRQe

Tremendous all round performance by #SRH. Punjab batting stuttered badly in second half of the innings, scoring about 20 fewer than seemed likely, which made the run chase easier. SRH now top of the table and looking irrepressible
