ODI World Cup 2023
‘They should stop crying and focus on cricket’ – Fans react as Pakistan lodges complaint to international cricket board against Ahmedabad crowd
Pakistan has filed an official complaint to the International Cricket Board regarding the conduct of the Ahmedabad crowd during the match between India and Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023. Pakistan expressed its disappointment over not getting enough support in the match in Ahmedabad. The Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur said that it felt like playing a bilateral series than an international tournament.
India won the match and extended their winning streak against Pakistan to 8-0 in the ODI World Cup. Before the match, it was reported that the journalists and fans were finding it difficult to get visas to witness the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Pakistan has also issued a complaint regarding the same against the Indian cricket board to the international cricket board. Pakistan Cricket Board took to X (Formerly called Twitter) to let everyone know about the complaints they have registered.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023,” wrote the Pakistan Cricket Board in its X account. The move comes as Pakistan found a lack of fans in the stadium to support them in the match against India in Ahmedabad.
Pakistan cricket board’s chairman to discuss his visit to India
“The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023,” read the statement from Pakistan. A source from Pakistan claimed that the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf, is likely to discuss the visit to India with his officials. The source claimed that Ashraf was unhappy with what happened in the stadium.
“Zaka Ashraf was himself present at Ahmedabad for the match against India and is witness to some incidents which has left him unhappy despite the Indian cricket officials’ hospital during his stay there,” the source said. Pakistan players landed in Bengaluru for their match against Australia. The players, coaching staff, support staff, and everyone else celebrated the birthday of Babar Azam in the hotel.
