Ever since India’s women’s team reached the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, the popularity of women’s cricket skyrocketed in India. Over the last decade, several Indian women’s cricketers have come into prominence, thanks to their skillset. However, there are two Indian women cricketers who have been carrying the burden of India’s women’s cricket on their shoulders for more than two decades.

Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami are two of the most prominent women cricketers in world cricket. Raj is currently the highest run-getter in the history of women’s cricket, while Jhulan Goswami holds the record for picking the most number of wickets in world cricket.

Much to the delight of Mithali Raj’s fans, India’s legendary cricketer recently took to Twitter to announce the release date of her biopic. For the unversed, Tapsee Pannu will be playing Mithali’s role in the movie titled, “Shabaash Mithu”.

“There is nothing more powerful than a girl with a dream! This is a story of one such girl who chased her dream with a bat and changed the “Gentleman’s Game” forever… #ShabaashMithu The Unheard Story Of Women In Blue will be in cinemas on 15th July 2022,” Mithali Tweeted along with the poster of the movie.

There is also a biopic on Jhulan Goswami, which is coming soon. Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is essaying the role of the veteran fast bowler.

The duo played their last ICC World Cup this year, held in New Zealand. 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was their last hope to realize their World Cup dream. India had a topsy-turvy campaign in the league stage. They needed to win their last league stage game against South Africa to reach the semi-finals. However, India couldn’t defend the 274-run target against South Africa.

Mithali Raj, in his illustrious career, scored 7805 runs in 232 matches at an average of 50.7. In 89 T20 internationals, she has 2364 runs to her name at 37.5. On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami picked 252 wickets in 201 ODIs at an average of 22.00. In 68 T20 Internationals, she has 56 wickets at 21.9.
