Bangalore managed their 4th win in 6 matches in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. The men in red are having a great time in the tournament so far and Dinesh Karthik appears to be one of the main reasons behind their brilliant show on the field.

He has provided them with some very powerful finishes and has scored 197 runs at a strike rate of 209.57 in the tournament so far. In Bangalore’s latest outing against Delhi, Karthik played the role of a finisher to perfection once again. He scored 66 runs off 34 deliveries and helped Bangalore post a total of 189 runs on the board. The men in red successfully defended the total by 16 runs.

After the match concluded the former skipper of the team, Virat Kohli interviewed Karthik. Kohli heaped praises on the wicket keepers blazing knocks in the tournament, while the latter revealed his future goals. Karthik said that his ultimate aim is to represent India once again and help them win the T20 World Cup 2022.

“The bigger vision is that I want to play for the country. I know there is a World Cup around the corner. I want to be part of that World Cup desperately and help India cross that line.”- Karthik said during his conversation with Kohli.

He also spoke on India’s drought of international trophies since winning the 2013 Champions Trophy. The 36-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is determined to end this drought. “It’s been a long time since India won a multi-nation tournament. I want to be that person who is helping India do that. For that, you need to be aware of so many things, try and be that player who people think ‘hey this guy is doing something special,”- said Karthik.

While speaking about his training regime to stay fit, Karthik revealed – “Every day I practice with that intent in my mind. Credit to my coach who has put me through so many drills to make sure I get the best out of myself. As you grow older, it’s important to stay fit. I have tried my best to do it.”
