Australia Test and ODI skipper Pat Cummins has become the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. He pulled out of the 2023 season to keep himself ready for the World Test Championship 2023 final, Ashes 2023, and the ODI World Cup. While Cummins managed to win Test Championship and ODI World Cup as captain, he managed to retain the Ashes in England.

Meanwhile, ahead of the ongoing 2024 player auction, the right-arm pacer decided to make himself available. After all, after the IPL 2024, the T20 World Cup 2024 will take place in the West Indies and USA. Teams don’t have enough international games to prepare themselves for the tournament which is why players would want to play in the cash-rich league.

Pat Cummins has previously played for Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders

Meanwhile, the two-time World Cup winner has played for five-time winners, Mumbai Indians, 2020 finalists Delhi Capitals, and two-time winners, Kolkata Knight Riders. Three years back, he was the costliest player of the season with 15.5 crores and played for KKR. This time around, he will play for the 2016 winners, Sunrisers Hyderabad. The last time this team played in the playoffs was in the 2020 season, played in the UAE due to COVID-19.

Since then, they have been lacking in terms of carrying the legacy of the former champions. Meanwhile, with 20.5 crores in the bag, Cummins becomes the most-expensive player in the auction so far.
