Suryakumar Yadav opens up on his mindset amidst his rich vein of form in white-ball cricket

Following his heroics in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 for India, Suryakumar Yadav showed his class in the, recently concluded, T20 series against New Zealand. He notched his maiden century in T20 internationals in the second match against New Zealand in just 49 deliveries. He went on to play an unbeaten knock of 111 runs in 51 balls, including 11 fours and 7 sixes.

Once again, India’s star batter exhibited his strokes all around the park. He made a mockery of New Zealand’s bowling unit by smashing boundaries at will. Thanks to that knock, India went on to win the match by 65 runs and also won the series 1-0.

After the third match which ended in a tie due to rain, Suryakumar Yadav expressed his delight on India winning the series.

“Really happy with the way things went, would have loved to have a full game but I am glad we got the series win,” said Suryakumar Yadav in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“The weather is not in our hands. The pressure is always here, but there is no fun when there is not,” said Suryakumar Yadav.

The 32-year-old batter also shed light on his mindset amidst his rich vein of form in white-ball cricket

“I am just enjoying my batting and not carrying any baggage,” told Suryakumar Yadav.

“Can take a bit of time, but the approach and intent will be the same. These things are not in our control. We can just express ourselves,” said Suryakumar Yadav.

As per reports, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to replace Ravindra Jadeja in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Jadeja is reportedly nursing a knee injury and isn’t likely to be fit in time. Earlier, Ravi Shastri also stressed on the importance of including Suryakumar Yadav in all three formats of the game.

“I think he is a three-format player. I know they don’t talk about him for Test cricket. Let me tell you. This guy can play Test cricket and he can surprise a few. Send him there at No. 5 and let him stir it up,” said Shastri while speaking on Star Sports during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
