Former Barcelona defender and Brazil superstar Dani Alves was taken into custody on January 20, Friday, on allegations of sexual assault made in December 2022. To add more, Alves was arrested at Catalunya and it remains to be seen if justice would be served for the affected party at the earliest as it is not clear whose fault was it at present.

Several reports from the country claimed that the decision to proceed with the case or release him would be in the hands of the judge. Reports from goal.com revealed that the Brazilian star was arrested and eventually attended the Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts police station in Barcelona to testify against the allegations.

Fans, on the other hand, took to Twitter to express their displeasure and were left shocked by the incident while a few of his ardent fans claimed that it might not be true. Alves, however, was quick to deny the allegations made against him and said that he tried to enjoy his time without invading the personal space of others.

Club Universidad Nacional terminate Dani Alves contract

Much to the surprise of the Brazilian fans, on Friday, Club Universidad Nacional’s president Leopoldo Silva announced the termination of Alves’ contract with immediate effect. For the unversed, it is a club from Liga MX and Silva claimed that they would not permit any conduct that would harm their ideology, in a video released.

“Club Universidad makes the decision to terminate the contract with Dani Alves with just cause. This is an institution that promotes respect and the correct, dignified and professional behavior of its male and female players both on and off the field because they are role models in Mexico and throughout the world. We cannot permit any conduct that would damage our philosophy,” Silva said in the video.

“Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others,” Alves was quoted as saying when asked about the allegations against him.
