Star Delhi player ruled out of Indian T20 League 2022? Ricky Ponting and Rishabh Pant give massive update
Delhi have won six out of their 12 games in the Indian T20 League 2022 so far
Prithvi Shaw is unarguably one of the most talented youngsters in India. Several experts and analysts have gone on to speak really highly of him. Besides, there is a reason why Delhi retained him ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction. When it comes to the ongoing 15th edition of the league, he has scored 259 runs in nine innings at an average of 28.78.
While his strike rate in this edition is 159.88, Shaw has also scored two fifties. However, he hasn’t featured in Delhi’s last three games. It is to be noted that Shaw was admitted to the hospital on Sunday. As a matter of fact, the opener himself posted an Instagram post, where he was lying in his hospital bed.
In a shocking turn of events, Delhi’s head coach Ricky Ponting revealed that Shaw is set to miss the remaining part of the 2022 edition. While speaking to the commentators during the game between Delhi and Rajasthan, the legend stated that Shaw has been ruled out. This comes as a massive blow to the Delhi-based franchise.
In the meanwhile, their skipper Rishabh Pant spoke about the opener as well. After their eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan, the keeper-batter stated that Shaw has “typhoid or something”. He also mentioned the fact that they miss him. It was KS Bharat who opened the innings in his absence, but unfortunately he couldn’t make much of an impact during their game against the Sanju Samson-led side.
“We miss him but we can’t control that. He has typhoid or something like that is what the doctor told me,†said Rishabh Pant during the post-match presentation. As far as the game is concerned, Delhi comprehensively beat the Rajasthan-based franchise. Thus, Pant drew light on the same.
“Very close to a perfect game. Always believe there’s room for improvement. When you know the wicket is going to turn, little bit not much, there’s an opportunity to both bowl first or bat first. In the toss I said anything around 140-160 would be good for us, and we got 160. Destiny is always on your hands, you can look to give 100 percent. Fielding wise we can be better,” he added.
