The last game of the India– South Africa T20I series is the most important one. With the series hanging in balance with two wins for both teams, the final game has become a series decider. South Africa had an impressive start to the series by winning both of their first two games. However, India made a great comeback on the back of a great bowling performance and won the next two.

The momentum would be with India as they won their last two games by huge margins and they would be looking to stamp their authority on the series. South Africa, however, had an equally impressive performance in the first two games and thus, they cannot be taken lightly. Before the start of the fifth T20I of the India- South Africa series, let’s look at the important details about it.

Team News:

India: Despite losing the first two games, the team management persisted with the same playing XI for all games. This move seems to have worked in their favour too, as all the players (particularly bowlers) came up with great performances and got India back into the series. Opener Ishan Kishan has looked like the best top-order batter in the series with a score of 76, 34, 54 and 27 in the four matches that he played. Other batters who have looked in great form are Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya. All the other middle-order batters have struggled to get consistent runs and would need to up their game.

Indian bowlers have improved massively in the last two games with Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvenshwar Kumar leading the way. Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan have also shown massive improvements and look up for the game.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan

Key Players: Yuzvendra Chahal, Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik

South Africa: The Proteas were a class above in the first two matches, having made a mockery of India’s total in both games. Since then, however, they have been figured out by Indian bowlers and look shaky throughout their batting lineup. The trio of David Miller, Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klassen have failed to produce their match-winning exploits from the first two games and other players have never got going.

South African bowlers still look like the ones with their fate in hand. In all four matches, they have caused problems for India’s batting lineup and would be up for the challenge. The Proteas team missed Kagiso Rabada in the last match. With a hand injury, it looks like the captain Temba Bavuma would also be out. Reeza Hendricks would be given a berth in case of Bavuma’s absence.

Probable XI: Reeza Hendricks/Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje

Key Players: David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Rassie van der Dussen

Pitch Report:

The Chinnaswamy Stadium has produced many high-scoring games throughout the years all thanks to a batting-friendly track and small boundaries. It could be the same case with the next India- South Africa match. However, a cloud-shaped uncertainly looms large on the game with Bangalore receiving showers every evening for the past month.

Match Details:

Date: 19th June 2022
