‘Some Serious Problems in the Management’ – Twitter lambasts team management for dropping Rishabh Pant against Pakistan

Fans are bashing Rohit Sharma for his decision.

Rishabh Pant

The much-awaited India-Pakistan match finally got underway on Sunday at Dubai. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the all-important toss in the big match and invited Pakistan to set a target for the ‘Men in Blue’. Indian team made two notable inclusions in their team as Sharma decided to go with Avesh Khan and Dinesh Karthik for the epic battle. He said at the toss, “It was a tough call we had to take between playing Dinesh and Rishabh, Rishabh sadly misses out.”

Picking Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant was a huge decision from the team management as Pant is regarded as an ‘X factor’ in the Indian team and was in terrific form of late. The youngster has cemented his place in the Tests and ODI format by plundering runs continuously. However, the southpaw hasn’t been able to replicate his heroics in the shortest format of international cricket. The 24-year-old has played 54 matches so far and scored 883 runs at a below-par average of 23.86. The swashbuckling batter has three half centuries to his name.

On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik has been living a dream life over the past few months. He had an incredible season in the Indian T20 League, finishing tight matches for the Bangalore Franchise. Even after his return to the Indian team, he has played several memorable knocks. In the 39 matches, he’s clobbered 591 runs at an average of 28 and a magnificent strike rate of 140.

During one of his interviews in the Indian T20 League this year, Karthik shared his wish of playing for India in the 20-20 world cup and he’s taking giant strides towards his dream. Pant’s inability to grab chances has worked wonders for Karthik who’s stormed his way back into the Indian team. Whether the decision of picking Karthik over Pant pays off for India or not, will be made clear after the match.

However, Twitter was not pleased with the exclusion of India’s flamboyant batter. Here are some of the best Tweets:
