‘So Disrespectful as a country for USA’ – Fans Slam USA’s Weston McKENNIE after his video of wiping hands with Cameraman’s vest goes viral in FIFA World Cup 2022

On 26 November 2022, England took on the USA in Al Bayt Stadium in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. It was a Group B encounter. Three Lions managed to thrash Iran in their World Cup opener by a huge scoreline of 6-2. On the other hand, the USA came to this clash after settling for a draw with Wales (1-1).

So, the stage was set for an enthralling battle between these sides. England were looking to strengthen their chances to get qualified for the next round. On the other side, the USA were looking for their first win in this year’s event. However, before this clash, both teams met each other twice in the history of this tournament.

On both those occasions, England failed to win. Once, the USA won while another game ended in a draw. Therefore, England fans were eager to see how their players perform this time around. Speaking of the match, both teams had a steady start to the clash. First, Harry Kane had a chance to open the scoring. But, USA defender, Walker ZIMMERMAN denied him in the 10th minute of the game. 

Then, USA’s Weston McKENNIE’s effort went over the bar in the 26th minute of the match. The midfielder was not happy with himself for missing that chance. Even, fans were not happy with such an effort from the player. They were expecting a better finishing from the Juventus midfielder. But, he made headlines in the 38th minute. Weston was seen wiping his hands with a cameraman’s vest before completing a throw-in. Fans found such a gesture from a player very disrespectful. So, they made the video viral and shared their views regarding that on social media platforms. However, the first half of the match ended as a goalless draw only.
