IND vs SL: Injuries galore for both teams ahead of 1st T20I

Published on

The teams for Sri Lanka’s trip to India have been revealed, although neither team is in good condition. While Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar have been ruled out due to injury, Wanindu Hasaranga has tested positive for COVID-19. The first T20 will be played on February 24th at Lucknow.

Suryakumar Yadav was spotted training with the squad on Tuesday, although it is believed that he has a hairline fracture in his arm. He was named player of the series against the West Indies, however, he hurt himself while fielding in the third T20 encounter.

Deepak Chahar was also injured in the same match. Chahar pulled his hamstring in the second T20I. Before he was taken off, he had taken two wickets in the 11 balls he bowled.

Wanindu Hasaranga from the Sri Lankan team will also miss out on the entire series as he has been tested positive for Covid again. Hasaranga was among the three players that tested positive during their tour to Australia.

In the most recent round of RT-PCR testing, he has returned a positive result. In spite of the fact that the two Indian players are very important to them, the BCCI will not announce replacements because getting them to play will be difficult considering the bubble protocols. There are some players available in the squad to replace them. In addition to Jasprit Bumrah, they also have Sanju Samson in the middle order.
