Singapore Women vs Malaysia Women second T20I: Team News
Having reached the final of the ACC Women T20I Championship last month, the Malaysia Women’s team came to this series full of confidence. Their confidence was apparent in this first match as they defeated the hosts by a massive six wickets margin.
Coming onto bat first, the Malaysian team managed to only get 78/9 in 20 overs. Sasha Azmi from the Malaysia team took two wickets in four overs. Nur Arianna Natsya also came up with a two-wicket haul to restrict the host side to a low total.
Coming on to chase the target, the visitors got over the line in just 14.3 overs. Wicketkeeper batter Wan Julia hit a 44-ball 30 along with Winifred Duraisingam (18 off of 26) to easily chase down the target.
If Singapore are to win the next game, they would have to improve massively in both departments. The Singapore batters would have to make more runs and the bowlers would have to take more wickets.
This Malaysian team outclassed every team in the ACC Women’s T20 League apart from the eventual winners UAE and would be looking to do the same in this tournament as well.
