After winning the toss, the hosts decided to bat first. They got off to a really poor start and lost both of their openers cheaply for a score of 0 and 1. Captain Shafina Mahesh came on to bat next and steadied the innings with a 27 off 43. None of the other batters however were able to assist their captain in taking the team towards a good total. Ada Bhasin was another batter who came up with a decent score of 15. The Singapore Women team could only reach 78/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Sasha Azmi with a bowling figure of 4-7-2 was Malaysia’s best bowler. Nur Arianna Natsya with 4-20-2 also supported her with fine bowling.

Coming on to chase a small target Malaysia got a good start with captain Winifred Duraisingam making 18 off of 26 and the other opener, Wan Julia, with 30 off of 44. The next two batters got off cheaply but Ainna Hashim and Nur Arianna Natsya were able to take the team across the finish line.
