Singapore vs Papua New Guinea, 3rd T20I- Match Preview
Singapore and Papua New Guinea take on each other in the third T20 international on Tuesday. The four-match T20I series is currently leveled at 1-1 with two matches still to be played. Singapore started the series on a winning note after beating PNG by 18 runs. The latter made a strong comeback in the next game as they beat the hosts by 3 wickets on Sunday.
With 2 matches left to be played in the series, the upcoming third T20 international is equally important for both sides.
Arjun Mutreja starred with the bat in the first match as he played a match-winning knock of 77 runs in 45 balls. With the ball, Akshay Puri was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs. Besides, the likes of Janak Prakash and Ninoth Baskaran claimed two each as well.
For PNG, Norman Vanua and Riley Hekure picked two wickets each. With the bat, Lega Siaka played a notable inning of 45 runs in 30 balls. But other than that, there weren’t a lot of useful contributions.
In the second T20 international, Surendran Chandramohan starred with the bat for Singapore. He scored 100 runs in just 52 balls, including 7 fours and as many sixes. Aman Desai and Arjun Mutreja played handy knocks of 30 and 36 respectively. With the ball, the likes of Amjad Mahboob, Aryaman Sunil and Vinoth Baskaran all picked two wickets each.
For PNG, Tony Ura played a match-winning knock of 93 runs in 40 balls, a knock which was laced with 9 sixes. Norman Vanue played an equally brilliant knock as he smashed 71 runs in 37 balls. Thanks to those contributions, PNG won the second game by 3 wickets.
After the end of the first two games, Arjan Mutreja is currently the highest run-getter in the series with 113 runs to his name in 2 matches. Surendran Chandramohan and Tony Ura is at second and third position with 102 and 99 runs to their name respectively.
With the ball, Vinoth Baskaran and Damien Ravu both have 4 wickets to their name. The third T20 international is slated to be played on Tuesday at Indian Association Ground.
