Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has made some bold claims about Virat Kohli. Akhtar believes that Kohli needs to start performing for his team else there are chances that he may get dropped from the team. A lot was expected of Virat Kohli in the ongoing Indian T20 League. However, the former Bangalore skipper has just scored 107 runs in five games at an average of 26.75. He has played a couple of good knocks but has looked far from the player he was. Notably, Kohli has not scored an international century since 2019.

“It is a performance based IPL franchise model. No one will be spared, not even Virat Kohli. Even he can be dropped if he does not perform. Some of the things I can’t even say now. Not one but there are 10,000 things going on in his head. He is a good person, a good player and great cricketer, but I want him to just focus, on one thing at a time,” Akhtar said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Akhtar further said that Kohli needs to consider himself an ordinary player and not a star, adding that people have started to point fingers at him, which is not good. “Consider yourself as a ordinary player, pick up your bat and just play. People have already started pointing fingers at Virat Kohli and it’s dangerous,” the former pacer added.

While Kohli has blown hot and cold, his team Bangalore has done well in the Indian T20 League. Bangalore are currently placed sixth in the points table, with three wins in five games. They are tied on points with second place Rajasthan but have an inferior net run rate. The team will next play Delhi on the 16th of April.
