When a small child told Cristiano Ronaldo that Lionel Messi was a superior player, Cristiano’s response went viral on social media on Saturday. The incident happened following Al Nassr’s game on Friday, in which they defeated Al Baten in a comeback during 15 minutes of extra time.

After the 3-1 triumph, Ronaldo, 38, headed for the locker room, and a child yelled, “Messi is way better!” The Portuguese star appeared to ignore the young fan and simply yelled his disgust with how the game went. “And that was the easy game,” remarked Ronaldo. Contrary to what several media sites have stated, Cristiano did not urge the youngster to go watch Messi when he clapped back at him.

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr completed a comeback vs Al Baten

Al Nassr hosted Al Baten, and the visitors quickly took the lead in the game. However, Rudi Garcia’s team pulled off a victory by scoring three goals in the 93rd, 112th, and 114th minutes. While Ronaldo’s team trailed by one, the fourth official showed 12 minutes of injury time, leading many to suspect foul play. Due to the game’s difficulties, Ronaldo was furious after failing to score. He clearly wants to overpower opponents rather than struggle to score three points.

Although the Portuguese superstar has scored frequently since joining the Saudi team from Manchester United, he was held without a goal against Al-Batin. The Saudi Pro League named Ronaldo Player of the Month for February after he scored eight goals for his new team. On Thursday, the forward will play again for Al-Nassr in a matchup against Al-Ittihad for first place in the standings.

Cristiano’s former manager, Erik ten Hag, recently opened up about his decision to drop Cristiano ahead of their clash against Liverpool last August. “I have to see and face the consequences of it, the impact of the decisions not only in the short-term but also for the longer-term. Of course, you don’t always have a lot of time, in that period I remember we had 10 days so I could consider which choice would be the best. You always have to think strategic, what is the consequence longer-term. I am aware of it but that is my job and that is the responsibility I have to take. I had reasons (for the decision). They were obvious. And I knew also the consequence and also if it was a negative outcome from that game. That is always possible in football. But I am not worrying. I sleep well also in those nights. I have to take the decisions in respect in advance of the club and the team. That is my job and that is the responsibility I have to take and I have to stand for those decisions,” he said.
