Lucknow‘s Mohsin Khan is developing to be a great cricketer in the Indian T20 League 2022. In Lucknow’s recent game against Delhi on Sunday, he picked up a four-wicket haul, proving what he is capable of doing. He got the important wickets of David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell, and Shardul Thakur to win the Player of the Match award.

His coach Badriuddin Siddiqui has revealed that Mohsin used to practice with Mohammad Shami at his farmhouse during the lockdown. He said that Shami told him that with some focus, Mohsin could be a better player than him. To this Badriuddin advised his ward to make to most of his opportunity with Shami.

“Shami told him that Mohsin is a better bowler than him but just needed more focus. I called him during lockdown and said, jitna Shami ka dimag nichod sakta hai, kar le (Learn whatever you can from Shami)’. Things have changed after that,” he said as quoted by The Indian Express.

“I told Mohsin, ‘see how Shami picked all the tricks from Wasim Akram.’ He has to do the same. Such opportunities should not be wasted, it will help him in the future,” he added.

Badriuddin confessed that Mohsin was in a difficult situation after not being picked to play for Mumbai for the last three years. To this, the coach advised him to keep talking to the experts in the Mumbai dressing room. He said that this would make him a better player.

“Sir, mujhe yeh log khila nahi rahe hain, mein pareshan hogaya hoon (they are not including me in the team, I am upset),” Mohsin told Badriuddin over a phone call. “I told him ‘Don’t be stupid. Just keep talking to Zaheer Khan and Lasith Malinga. Just chew their brains and you will be a better bowler in coming days’,” he recalled.

The 23-year old has played four games in the season so far, and has picked up eight wickets. He also has been very economical by conceding just 6.07 runs per over.
