‘ShamarJoseph warra player’- Fans react to Shamar joseph’s amazing 7-fer at the Gabba

The 2nd Test of the West Indies vs Australia series was a must-win for the Caribbean giants to win the series. It was looking unlikely knowing that the game was at the Gabba in Brisbane, where the Aussies have a fantastic record at this venue. The last time the Aussies lost at this venue was back in 2021 by India. That was the time we knew that the famous fortress could also be breached, but it was still a tall order for a West Indies team who were not looking at their best in recent times and have struggled to find their feet.

However, history was once again created at the venue on the fourth day of the Day-Night test where The Australians finally had a target of 216 after getting the West Indies all out for 193. With the partnership of Steve Smith and Cameron Green, it was looking like another win at the Gabba and a potential whitewash. But the West Indies still came back into the game and had the Australians at 132-5 at one stage. This brought a lot of hope for the West Indies, but there was still the threat of Steven Smith at the crease. That did not last long with the Baggy Greens losing wickets on regular occasions and finally getting all out and losing the game by 8 runs.

Shamar Joseph the Caribbean Gabba hero

The man of the moment was none other than 24-year-old pacer Shamar Joseph who surprised the Aussies with a magnificent spell. After only taking 1 wicket in the first innings, he came back with a bang in the second taking 7/68 in 11.5 overs. There were some incredible deliveries bowled by the young pacer in the innings. This was one of the best spells by a West Indies bowler on Aussie soil as well. With this amazing spell, he also became the highest wicket-taker for the West Indies in this Test series with 13 wickets in his 2 matches.

Joseph was also adjudged as the man of the series as well due to his amazing performance. This will also give him a lot of confidence going forward in his career. After already making a huge impact in his debut series, it will be interesting to see how far he can go. He has been part of one of the greatest Test matches already in just his second game. Their consistency and swinging the ball of a hard length have already made him a prospect who should be groomed well by the board, management and staff in the future.
