While people pushed their week to completion with coffee in their hands, they were hit by a totally unexpected story straight out of the blue. In a surprising turn of events, Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian T20 League has publicly announced his relationship with actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen and broke the internet in the process.
This came out as a shock to many, as there were no rumours doing the rounds of these two dating earlier. The announcement that was made on Twitter by Lalit Modi read, “Just back in London after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families – not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 – a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon.”
Modi’s Twitter post included four pictures of him and Sen together. One of the pictures also had his ex-wife Minal Modi who died of cancer in 2018.
Lalit Modi is a cricket administrator and currently a fugitive. The Indian T20 League known today as the second most lucrative league in the world is thought to be his brainchild. After running the league for three years, Modi was suspended from the Indian Cricket Board after being accused of financial Irregularities and misconduct.
The Indian Cricket Board launched an investigation and banned Modi for life after being found guilty. Modi denied any wrongdoings and blamed it on political vendetta. He later moved to London and has since then stayed there and away from cricket.
Modi and Sen’s life seemed to be vastly different from each other which is why their relationship has come out as a major surprise to Indian movie and cricket fans alike. Many took to Twitter to talk about the relationship. Some were happy for the couple while some judged Sen’s choice of partner and called it more of a financial decision saying that she is marrying for the riches. Sushmita Sen is yet to confirm the relationship on her social media.
