Australian cricketer, Marcus Stoinis has been receiving criticism from Pakistan fans after he raised questions on Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling action during a match in The Hundred 2022. The incident took place during a clash between Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles, which the Invincibles won by seven wickets.

Stoinis, who scored 37 off 27 balls, was dismissed by Hasnain while attempting to slog a short ball bowled by the 22-year-old speedster. However, he failed to get the desired connection as the ball went high up in the air before England’s Will Jacks completed a regulation catch at mid-off.

The moment became controversial when Stoinis was walking back to the dugout and claimed it to be an illegal delivery by mimicking the action of the Pakistan pacer. Stoinis is not the first Australian cricketer who has questioned Hasnain’s bowling action. All-rounder Moises Henriques had also accused the pacer of ‘chucking’ in the previous edition of the Big Bash League. Henriques was heard saying, “Nice throw, mate” to Hasnain after he bowled a bouncer.

Hasnain has been guilty of having an illegal action, which came to light after an umpire from Big Bash League had reported it. The Pakistani quick has, however, been cleared to bowl again after working on his technique and angle of release, and Stoinis could well face disciplinary action for his conduct on the field. The pacer, who has represented Pakistan in eight ODIs and 18 T20Is, finished the contest with a wicket and conceded 27 runs in the 15 deliveries he bowled.

Earlier as well, few Pakistan spinners’ actions had come under scrutiny as they were banned by the apex cricket body. Saeed Ajmal, who was taking giant strides in International cricket to become the mystery spinner all around the world, was also banned by the cricket’s governing council. The spinner was never seen in action again in International cricket following his ban.

Stoinis’ reaction, however, didn’t go well with the fans, who slammed the all-rounder to play the sport and let the officials do their work. Here’s how fans are criticizing his behaviour on Twitter:
