‘Saste nashe ka asar’- Fans come up with top-tier memes after Sunil Gavaskar compares Umran Malik to Sachin Tendulkar

Fans fail to see the seriousness of Gavaskar’s comments.

Sunil Gavaskar is among the best cricket analysts from India today. From time to time, his predicts come true and surprise everybody. The legendary cricketer has spent huge amounts of time playing and commentating which allows him to make these predictions.

Sometimes however he makes some claims that are hard to swallow by even his ardent fans. One such comment that he made recently has fans quite confused.

Prior to the second ODI in Mirpur, the former Indian legend, Sunil Gavaskar came up with a huge statement. While speaking on SonyLIV, he said: “One player I am most excited to see playing for India after Sachin Tendulkar is Umran Malik.” It was a massive statement from Gavaskar as Sachin Tendulkar was a legend of this game. Then, fans came up with their views on social media platforms to thrash Sunil Gavaskar.

Many have questioned Gavaskar’s take for being too outlandish. Fans have criticised the great batter for comparing arguably the greatest cricketer to one who hasn’t proven his mantle at the highest level. Fans have replied with memes and funny posts

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Gavaskar’s comments:

While nowhere at Sachin Tendulkar’s level, Malik continues to impress all with his pace and bowling. In the recently concluded match against Bangladesh, Umran took two wickets for 58 runs in 10 overs. During the New Zealand tour, Umran Malik said that he has been working on his line, length, and variations to improve himself. He said: “I am working on developing new deliveries. Like, I am working on slowers and yorkers for T20s. Also, I am working very well on pitching good-length and hard-length balls. I am enjoying a lot by working alongside the coaches and feels really good. When I am playing for India, it is a national duty and have to do well. If I do well, will stay here in the team for a long. I just want to play long for India and perform well.”
