‘Sar phatega iska’- Fans come up with hilarious reactions as Irish wicket keeper wears a different type of helmet against India

Published on

India Women are up against Ireland Women in the key contest at St. George’s Oval. Batting first, India Women mounted a challenging total of 155 for the loss of six wickets. Smriti Mandhana played an elegant inning and scored 87 from 56 deliveries before getting dismissed in the death overs.

Laura Delany played a significant role in restricting India Women’s total by picking three wickets. Amidst all these, what caught the attention of the cricket fans was the helmet worn by the Irish wicket keeper. Mary Waldron wore a different type of helmet while keeping the stumps. The fans went gaga over the non-traditional helmet on the social media platform.

Here’s a look at all the reactions:

At the time of writing, Ireland Women are 54 for the loss of two wickets. They still need 102 runs from 70 deliveries to derail India’s push for the semifinal spot. Any big defeat will put India Women into jeopardy as West Indies also have four points from four games.

On the other hand, Pakistan Women have two points from three games and have a superior run rate compared to that of India Women. If India Women loses today’s fixture, Pakistan Women will qualify for the next round with ease.

Indian women are currently sitting at number two on the points table with 2 wins in 3 matches in Group B. Another win today should seal their place for the semi-finals. It will be interesting to see how the bowling attack fares. Ireland, on the other hand, are sitting at the bottom of the points table. They have played three matches and are yet to win a game in the tournament.
