The 15-player Team India roster Matthew Hayden has selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India from October 5 to November 19, is his first choice. Hayden is a former Australian opener. Hayden’s selections are intriguing, especially the exclusion of left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who is currently in remarkable form.

On October 8, the Men in Blue will face Australia in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium to start their World Cup campaign. India last served as co-hosts in 2011, when they captured the ODI World Cup.

Matthew Hayden’s 15 man squad

Hayden selected his ideal 15-person Team India roster for the 2023 World Cup in an interview on Star Sports. Beyond the safe bets, he chose Axar Patel over Kuldeep, an all-arounder. Hayden’s lineup does not include Yuzvendra Chahal because the former Australian opener selected Shardul Thakur, another all-arounder.

It’s interesting to note that Hayden’s 15-man roster includes backup keepers Sanju Samson as well as Ishan Kishan. He stated that he would choose Samson over Tilak Varma, a promising player from Kerala. Suryakumar Yadav is also selected for the former cricketer’s World Cup squad.

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan,Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj.

In addition to Hayden, several other former cricket players have also revealed their ideal 15-man Team India lineup for the 2023 World Cup, including Sourav Ganguly, Sanjay Manjrekar, MSK Prasad, Sanjay Bangar, as well as Kris Srikkanth.

India are currently in a training camp in Allur, Bangalore where most of the Indian team is undergoing rigorous sessions ahead of the Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup 2023. The Indian team is reportedly going to leave for Colombo, Sri Lanka on August 30th. They are going to play their first game of the Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan on September 2, 2023.
