The Indian cricket team has had many outstanding captains. One of those was Sourav Ganguly, lovingly known as “Dada” by his fellow citizens. Dada was considered to be one of the captains with a vision, as history has seen. In the history of Indian cricket, Dada has been a dependable, wise, and strong leader.

India experienced victory thanks to Sourav Ganguly on foreign grounds. Ganguly emphasised competition through direct eye contact with the other teams. Dada was the one who gave talented youngsters like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, and MS Dhoni an opportunity, laying the groundwork for the nation’s best team. He was the one who gave the Indian team lessons in bullying.

Sourav Ganguly’s rise as captain

The destiny of the team was going to be unknown after fixing in Indian cricket was made public in the year 2000 after Tendulkar declined to serve as captain. Sourav Ganguly then moved forward and assumed control of the group.

Under Dada’s leadership, the Indian cricket team entered a new phase. The Indian team’s reputation took a hit after winning at the opponents’ homes. As a result of Dada teaching the Indian team “dadagiri,” the team began playing bravely.

The last game of the three-match Test series between India and Pakistan in 2007 included one of Sourav Ganguly’s finest centuries in the sport. At 44/2 and with his team in trouble, Dada entered the batting order. He went on to score 239 runs in the first inning as well as 91 runs during the second inning. Sadly, despite his heroics, India was only three wickets from achieving a spectacular victory when the game was abandoned due to weather.
