Shikhar Dhawan-led team India faced West Indies in the first of the three-match ODI series. Both teams played this match at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The men in blue are playing without their permanent skipper Rohit Sharma as the management has decided to rest him for the ODI series.

Speaking of the match, then it was completely a thriller and power-packed encounter. Both teams played exceptionally well to give a treat of an amazing ODI match to the fans. The visitors clinched a victory with a very close margin of only three runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the series.

India survived a middle-order collapse in the first inning somehow in the result of the match

Batting first, skipper Shikhar Dhawan and young opener Shubman Gill started the proceedings for team India. They both made an amazing partnership of 119 runs for the first wicket before an unfortunate that ended the 64-run knock of Gill. He played this knock in 53 balls with 6 boundaries and two sixes.

Later on, skipper Dhawan played an excellent knock of 97 runs and made another partnership of 94 runs for the second wicket with Shreyas Iyer. The number three Iyer scored 54 runs. On the backs of these three knocks, the visitors somehow posted a decent total of 308 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target, the hosts played very well and they looking to reach the line easily when only four runs were required in the last over. Shikhar Dhawan brought Mohammed Siraj into the attack. Siraj happened to be a successful move from the skipper as he saved those four runs in the last over and helped India to cross the line with a win of three runs.
