Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has kicked off a storm after claiming that Shahid Afridi blocked his selection in a PSL side. While speaking as a panelist on a Pakistani News show ‘Game Set Match’, the two entered into a heated debate about Shehzad’s career and his current situation.

While speaking on Shehzad’s exclusion from the national side, former Pakistan captain Afridi, said, “I supported him a lot because I was not finding an opener of his ability in Pakistan. He was performing as well.”

Shehzad, who was visibly taken aback by Afridi’s comments, hit back at the former captain. revealing that Afridi put hurdles into Shehzad’s path.

Shehzad clapped back with, “Listen, I don’t know why you said that. You have been an elder brother to me, you can say anything to me. But sometimes it hurts me.”

Seeing that his former teammate has turned on him, Afridi tried a diplomatic approach to the discussion, saying he only wishes ‘great things for Shehzad’ and wants him to ‘score runs and enjoy life. Shehzad retorted again saying,

“You keep saying that. You want me to score runs, but at the same time don’t deny me opportunities and a platform where I can score runs. I want to ask who you when PSL side wanted to pick me, who came in and said no?”

“I keep saying that. I want to score runs, but at least don’t deny me the platforms where I can score. I will ask you when sides in the Pakistan T20 League want to pick me, who comes in and says no? You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home? (Runs kaha karu, ghar pe?)” added Shehzad.

Anchors realizing the tension in the air came in between and said, “Yeah what happened with Shehzad in PSL was wrong”, and tried to make light of the situation.

Ahmed Shehzad’s career has been marred with controversies and his career hasn’t taken the same route as everyone expected. The 30-year-old has played 153 international matches for Pakistan and has scored a total of 5058 runs with an average of 31.41.
