The Indian captain had to miss the India- England 5th Test due to COVID.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, contracted COVID just before the start of the India-England Test sending the team management into a frenzy. India’s team for the upcoming white-ball series against England has already been announced and the 35-year-old has been named as the captain for the T20I side as well as the ODI side.
The news has come as a surprise to many as Rohit Sharma’s inclusion would make the team stronger and India would have had a better chance of winning. The team is also looking to finalise the team for the upcoming T20I world cup later this year and this series is a chance for Rohit to sharpen his captaincy and batting.

After the retirement of Eoin Morgan, the captaincy role has been given to Jos Butler. The ODI series will also see the return of Ben Stokes and Joe Root who will sit out the T20I series.
