Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), expressed his confidence in the young talents of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera. Rohit drew parallels between these promising cricketers and the current stars of MI, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya. He predicted that in two years’ time, people will recognize Varma and Wadhera as crucial members of a superstar team, both for Mumbai and for India.

The Mumbai captain said, “The story of Bumrah, Hardik, Krunal will be similar to Tilak Varma & Nehal Wadhera – after 2 years, people will say this is a superstar team – these two guys are going to play a big role for Mumbai & India in future.”

Rohit Sharma’s statement reflects his belief in the immense potential of Varma and Wadhera. He foresees their rise to prominence, much like Bumrah, Hardik, and Krunal, who have become integral parts of the MI squad and made significant contributions to Indian cricket.

With this comparison, Rohit Sharma aims to highlight the impact that Varma and Wadhera can have on the team’s success in the coming years. As captain, he recognizes the importance of nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to shine.

As fans eagerly await the development of these young cricketers, Rohit Sharma’s words serve as a source of excitement and anticipation for the future of Mumbai Indians and the Indian cricket team.

MI face tough task ahead

As for Mumbai Indians, they finished 4th on the IPL 2023 points table and are scheduled to play against LSG in the IPL 2023 Eliminator on May 24th. They were all but out of the Playoff places but a RCB defeat by the hands of GT propelled the Rohit Sharma-led side to the fourth place.

The team has missed the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer, but a recent surge in form by Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green has plastered some of MI’s issues. The winner of MI vs LSG will then play in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 against GT. The Hardik Pandya-led side lost to CSK in the IPL Qualifier 1 at Chepauk Stadium and would have to go through another match for a chance to reach the final.

CSK meanwhile have reached the IPL 2023 Final, their 10th of the league and are properly set for their 5th trophy.
