Robin Uthappa Predicts 20-20 World Cup’s Semi-Finalists, Leaves Fans In Shock
Robin Uthappa’s prediction is likely to disappoint Indian fans.
We now have our top 12 teams in the tournament after the first round of the 20-20 World Cup concluded. Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and Ireland have advanced to the Super 12 stage, and the main event has begun with Australia taking on New Zealand at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Former cricketers have begun to predict which four teams will advance to the semi-final stage. However, Robin Uthappa‘s prediction is likely to disappoint Indian fans. Uthappa named England, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa as his four semi-finalists on ESPNCricinfo.
“I want to start off with a disclaimer. I do not think Indian fans would be too happy. But my semi-finalists would be Australia, England, Pakistan and South Africa,” said Uthappa.
India’s form in recent times
Anil Kumble, Tom Moody, Faf du Plessis, Sam Billings, and Darren Ganga all chose India as a semi-finalist. The Men In Blue have had a good run in the shortest format of the game of late. They defeated Australia and South Africa in bilateral series at home. The Rohit Sharma-led team then defeated hosts Australia in a pre-World Cup warm-up game.
Rain forced the cancellation of their next warm-up game against New Zealand. The team arrived in Australia two weeks ago and played two practice games against the Western Australia XI. Team India will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The last time these two arch-rivals met in the World Cup, Pakistan asserted dominance over India. Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan guided their team to a historic 10-wicket victory in the Super 12 Stages in the 20-20 World Cup 2021 in UAE.
This was the first time Pakistan defeated India in a World Cup match. The team led by Babar Azam will now attempt to repeat their performance. this time as well. The 2007 World Cup Champions, on the other hand, will look to turn things around in their favour.
